Our Poshbrood consisted of myself, my husband and our two boys, ages 4 and 6.
We arrived on New Year’s Eve to discover the hotel beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The central courtyard was transformed into a winter village with lights, benches and, charmingly, tiny storefronts with cookies and chocolates for the children and hot, mulled wine for the adults. We never wanted to leave!
We were staying in a “Prestige Suite.” There was no view – other than into the delightful courtyard – but there was never any doubt we were anywhere but Paris. The room wasn’t overly large but it was incredibly appealing, with traditional paneling and furniture that was updated and pretty. It felt very, very French.
It was the perfect spot for a family of four as there was a separate bedroom for the adults and two full, luxury baths. The hotel also offers connecting rooms for families as well as family rates.
The tub and shower were combined and, overall, the bathrooms were updated and very clean. The boys shared a large pullout sofa bed, which took up most of the living room when unfolded. It was a lovely sofa when closed.
The hotel itself has fabulous public spaces, a cozy lobby seating area and a well trained, friendly staff.
We spent quite a bit of time in the hotel bar, Tuileries Bar. The staff keeps some of the better tables – including a wonderful corner spot with a luxe sofa – reserved for guests and we never had a problem finding seats. The service was lovely and the kids adored all the special pastries. We ended each night with drinks on the sofa in the bar with the boys choosing dessert from a cart brought over by the waiter.
The hotel concierge made several reservations for us. All of the restaurants were perfect for families and many were in walking distance, which we loved.
The hotel’s location is ideal for families! We were able to walk to the Louvre, the Left Bank, Notre Dame and to the Champs Elysées. Best of all there was a carousel, playground and trampolines quite literally across the street in the Tuileres Gardens.
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and look forward to returning again in the near future.
For anyone traveling to Paris with children, we highly recommend springing for Business Class on Air France. We traveled on an enormous A380. The seats were amazing with an entertainment system providing everything from movies to games to music for all ages and tastes. The food was good and the service very friendly. Best of all, the kids easily napped in the seats, which became almost completely flat. Highly recommended for purchase if you can swing it or upgrading with miles!
Westin Paris room rates start at $385 a night. Book your travel through Poshbrood/SmartFlyer -- a preferred travel agent of Starwood Hotels for great rates and upgrades.
