Round Hill Hotel & Villas Resort
One of the most exclusive and family friendly resorts in the Caribbean – the best way to experience this famous resort is to rent a privately owned villa property with full access to all resort amenities. We booked our stay at Round Hill’s Summerland Villa with Jamaica Villa’s by Linda Smith. Upon arrival (a quick direct flight from BWI on Air Jamaica or Air Tran, a must with small children) we were greeted by a warm, friendly staff and found three swings that were specially hung for each of the girls. We fell in love with Chubby (the cook, of course!), Anthony (the butler), Pauline (our Round Hill nanny) and the rest of the staff. Chubby’s meals were healthy, fresh and delicious and served al fresco on the front and back verandas. Summerland has four beautiful bedrooms, a private pool, two acres green space and a short walk or golf cart ride to the main house and resort. The main resort has a beautiful, child friendly beach complete with a beach bar for parents, watersports, the Pineapple Kids Club, a main pool and a baby pool, restaurants, a retro rat-pack feeling bar and lounge, a spa and a business center.
It was the most relaxing vacation we’ve ever had: no cooking, no cleaning, no dishes, no laundry. In fact, the staff was so devoted they decorated the villa with streamers, balloons and made a special cake for our daughter’s 5th birthday. I still dream about returning to the villa after a day at the beach, greeted by Anthony with my favorite rum punch cocktail. poshbrood loves Round Hill so much we went back again this year.
Tip: Visit in low season (after April 15) to secure great rates. Don't miss the weekly beach barbecue or the glass bottom boat ride with Hercules!
