Where Have All the Celebrities Gone…

...for vacation this summer? With so many celebrities inviting us into their personal vacations with Instagram, we thought we’d put together a list of all the fabulous travel that’s been going on recently. We covered Christie Brinkley’s posh sailboat adventure a few weeks ago, but where did everyone else summer?

Welcoming June in #Italy

A photo posted by Salma Hayek Pinault (@salmahayek) on

Salma Hayek spent her summer holiday relaxing in Portofino, Italy with family. Accompanied by her husband, François-Henri Pinault, and daughter, Valentina, they spent time relaxing and celebrating François-Henri’s 52nd birthday.

Chris Pratt wasn’t exactly on vacation, but his press tour for Jurassic Park took him all around the world in style. Of course, it was Lego Owen who got to do most of the sightseeing. Here he is taking time for a selfie in Berlin!

Human pyramid

A photo posted by @amyschumer on

Brand-new BFF’s Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence stayed closer to home, but still managed to have a ton of fun with their group of gal pals. The group spent a high-energy week in Montauk Beach jet-skiing, sunning on yachts and driving the internet crazy with their delightful adventures.

Not to be outdone, Amy Poehler and Cecily Strong hit the beach themselves and quickly followed suit with their own version of the pyramid! Will human pyramids while vacationing be the next selfie? We’ll keep you updated!

Day at the Museum in Stuttgart

You can’t spend the night at any of these museums, but you definitely can spend the day! Stuttgart has several unique, state-of-the-art museums you’ll find nowhere else in the world. Considered the birthplace of the automobile, Gottlieb Daimler’s workshop and home are in Stuttgart, as well as several classy car museums and a car-themed hotel that is surrounded by vintage cars. But it’s not just for gear heads!

From the glass cube of the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart housing unique German art to the square white house by Le Corbusier showcasing the Weissenhofsiedlung, these modern institutions are destination must sees. Given the astounding architecture of the buildings themselves, you might think they are the artwork! But you’ll soon realize the collections housed within are deep, varied and well-presented. Overall, the historic racing cars, excellent audio guides, delicious dining and wonderful gift shops make Stuttgart museums delightful for the entire family.

Mercedes-Benz Museum

Built in 2006, the Mercedes-Benz museum will mesmerize you with a collection of luxury cars belonging to famous people, including Princess Diana, the Pope and Emperor Hirohito. Blitzen-Benz and Formula One winners, along with other record-winning cars, are on display. Headed to Stuttgart in summer? Their fabulous annual event, the “Starry Night,” transforms the top floor of the museum into a restaurant where diners can enjoy the museum and views of the beautiful countryside. There’s also yoga on the roof and open-air cinema!

Porsche Museum

The Porsche Museum opened in 2009 with an angular and futuristic design. The 80 racing and sports cars on display are in perfect running condition and are used at exhibitions and old-timer races. Kids will love watching the skilled mechanics at work on the cars in the museum’s own workshop or heading over to tour the factory next door.

Weissenhof Estate

Another one-of-a-kind museum, the Weissenhof Estate, started as a residential development created by 17 world-renowned architects in 1927, including Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Hans Scharoun, Walter Gropius and Le Corbusier. The building is one of the most significant landmarks left by the movement known as “Neues Bauen.” Even before you leave your home, you can check out the museum by taking a virtual tour of Le Corbusier’s house, reading about the famous exhibition and looking at the wonderful photos.

Kunstmuseum Stuttgart

By this time in your marathon museum tour of Stuttgart, you might be tuckered out, but don’t miss the art museum Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. The wonderful glass cube design of the building is amazing as it hangs over the palace square in the center of Stuttgart. The museum houses extensive collections of Swabian impressionists, avant-garde painters, along with a number of concrete art examples, and one of the largest collections of the German expressionist and satirist, Otto Dix.

Our brood is lucky to call Washington, DC our home. So when people ask me what to do in Washington, DC for families. The answer is easy: visit the icon of the nation’s capital – The National Mall and Memorial Parks.

For more than 200 years, the National Mall has symbolized our nation and its democratic values, which have inspired the world. The National Mall - the great swath of green in the middle of our capital city and stretching from the foot of the United States Capitol to the Potomac River - is “America’s front yard.” Explore it!

Tip: The National Park Service has a free National Parks app for iPhones and Androids:

I partnered with the American Express EveryDay Credit Card to promote a cool partnership between American Express & The National Parks to encourage people to visit the national parks and monuments in their own backyards!

Here are the 6 must-see, must-do things on the National Mall, starting at our favorite memorial – the Lincoln Memorial.

1. Lincoln Memorial: A beautiful memorial dedicated to our 16th President, the Lincoln Memorial is perched over the Reflecting Pool and is a tribute to the man that saved the Union and until his untimely death, supported our nation’s founding principles that all men are created equal. We like to ride our bikes to the Lincoln Memorial or take a picnic and a Frisbee. Tip: Older kids (and parents) will love the Ranger’s guided tour of the National Mall’s Monuments at Night. It’s free, offered almost every night from 8 to 10 pm and meets at the Lincoln Memorial Plaza. For more information, contact the Ranger Station at (202) 426-6841.

2. Signer’s Island: Just North of the Reflecting Pool and near the World War II Memorial, is a little-known gem of a Memorial – Signer’s Island. Signer’s is a tiny park-island on the National Mall within Constitution Gardens Pond. A ring of memorial slabs on the island honors the signers of the historic American document – the Constitution of the United States. Access is from a footbridge on the north side and is a good place for quiet time, feeding ducks, enjoying a picnic.

3. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial: Dedicated in August 2011, this stunning monument honor’s Dr. King’s leadership in the Civil Rights movement; in the form of solid granite, his legacy is further cemented in the tapestry of the American experience. The memorial is cleaved in two parts – to illustrate victory borne from disappointment, but allows visitors a clear view of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial—which reflects the principles of freedom and liberty—which gave birth to America.

Tip: The National Park Service offers little visitors a Junior Rangers program. You can ask any Park Ranger at any memorial for more information or download the booklet before your visit here:

4. Tidal Basin Paddle Boats: Take a break from history for some fun on the Tidal Basin. On the Northeast side of the Tidal Basin, there are seasonal paddleboats for rent. The boats are available in a two-seat or four-seat model. This is a great way to burn off some extra energy, splash around but also see the Thomas Jefferson Memorial close up from the water. During the springtime, the Tidal Basin is lined with DC’s iconic Japanese cherry blossoms.

Tip: There is food available at the paddleboat rental station for hungry little paddlers.

5. The Carousel on the National Mall: The Carousel on the Mall is across Jefferson Drive from the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building and about a 10-minute walk from the Tidal Basin. The Carousel is insight of the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument and is a great reward for kids after a visit to one of the eleven Smithsonian museums located on the Mall or as a stand-alone activity. The one-of-a-kind Carousel was built by the Allen Herschell Company in 1947, and is known as a “traveling machine.” The horses are four abreast, all jumping, the last one of it’s kind. A Sea Dragon was added in 1996 and it’s the most popular seat. The carousel is open daily from 10-6 pm and is $3.50 per ride.

Tip: Don’t miss the old-fashioned popcorn wagons—in front of the Air and Space Museum and at the steps of the Natural History Museum.

6. United States Botanic Garden:
Steeped in history and rich with tradition, the Botanic Garden, established by Congress in 1820, is a living plant museum located on the National Mall across from the U.S. Capitol. The renovated Conservatory showcases an extraordinary state-of-the-art indoor garden with 4,000 seasonal, tropical, and subtropical plants. Kids ages 9 and older will love the Junior Botanist program, through which they can engage in scavenger hunt-style adventures throughout the Conservatory. A Children’s Garden gives kids a chance to handle plants in bloom and play with gardening tools. Best of all? Entry to the U.S. Botanic Garden is free.

I am an Amex EveryDay CardMember and Ambassador for this program. However, all opinions about the Card are my own.

A Night At…. Courtesy of Airbnb!

Have you been looking for a truly adventurous, unique vacation spot? For the last few months, Airbnb has been on the case! Inspired by the #WaterstonesTexan story, Airbnb has been holding “A Night At…” contests offering a curated selection of one-night stays in highly unusual locations.

Opportunities are limited so guests compete for the honor by submitting short essays making their case for why they should be chosen to stay at a particular location. And what locations they are!

Cable Car at Courchevel

If you love to ski, or if you’ve ever wanted to spend the night suspended 9,000 feet above the ground, this stay was for you! A cable car at Courchevel in 3 Vallées was transformed into a luxury condo to host four lucky winners. The car featured floor-to-ceiling red curtains, fuzzy white rugs, a cozy living room and four walls of windows. Amazing!

Night on a Plane!

No one really enjoys flying, but we might if the accommodations were like what was offered by airline KLM last November. This two bedroom, multiple bathroom, WiFi-capable loft-style apartment on their retired MD-11 airplane featured 116 windows and a panoramic view from the cockpit. Unfortunately, some hopes were dashed when entrants were warned there was “No flying,” “No marshmallow roasting with the jet engines” and no use of the inflatable slide! Boo!

Ellis Island Memories

Fourth of July week was especially meaningful for the winner of Airbnb’s Ellis Island stay. After submitting her emotional essay describing her visits to Ellis Island as a child to see her grandparent’s names on the Wall of Hope, she was declared the contest winner. She and her mother got a private tour of Ellis Island and spent the night on a fabulous yacht docked in the middle of New York Harbor between the island and the Statue of Liberty. Oh, and her host for the evening’s festivities? Marcia Gay Harden, who has been exploring her roots, and trying to discover her own family history. After an excellent dinner with dishes representing the many different nationalities that passed through Ellis Island, the pair took a private after-hours tour of the Ellis Island grounds and museum before going on a late-night cruise and falling asleep with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. They woke up to more beautiful views of the city—and a wonderful breakfast!

Recent contests have included your own personal Lollapalooza and an overnight stay on the set of Conan. Those contests are closed, but there’s still more to come from Airbnb, so keep an eye on their website for an opportunity that piques your interest!

Summer Camp for Adults? You’re Missing Out!

Adult Summer Camp

The kids are off to have fun at summer camp, and you’re left wondering what to do. It’s not like you can go to summer camp too! Or can you?!?

Even as the popularity of sleep-away summer camp for kids has declined over the last few years, summer camps for adults are on the rise. Many adult summer camps are oriented to the recently post-college crowd, but some are perfect for the big kids (at heart) who want to revisit a skill, disconnect from work or just have fun. We’re covering a few of the best!

How far are we going today? #bikeandboat #bikeboatbeer #croatia

A photo posted by Angela Ritchie (@ritchieacecamps) on

Ace Camps

Ace Camps are actually not just summer camps, they are “small group creative learning adventures.” The camps are held all year long—and include some wonderful travel choices! You’ll get to experience new places and experiences with other like-minded individuals. The trips are planned, but take advantage of interesting opportunities if they come up. Trips in 2015 include culinary camp in London, food and visual storytelling in Italy, food and photography in Portugual, print making in India and experiencing Morocco. Sign me up!

Adult Summer Camp

Wine Camp

I’m not sure I can say no to this one! Wine Camp is a four-day adventure in wine country on the beautiful North Fork of Long Island and has been described as “the ultimate food and wine experience on the east coast.” Visit eight different wineries and learn how to taste wine like an expert, the chemistry of winemaking, how to pair wine and food and even how to blend your own wine!

A photo posted by Wanderlust (@wanderlustfest) on

Looking to unplug and reconnect with yourself? Wanderlust Festivals celebrate mindful living with yoga and meditation instructors, musical performers, speakers, artists and chefs for transformational retreats in the world’s most awe-inspiring natural resorts. You don’t have to be an experienced yogi to take part. I feel more relaxed just looking at the pictures!

Soul Camp

Soul Camp is very close to “real” summer camp with no alcohol, kids or cellphones allowed! Just good food, good friends and great activities! Activities can include arts and crafts, yoga, boating, swimming and more, but unlike real summer camp, everything is optional! You can even bunk in a real cabin with others—or reserve a private cabin complete with fireplace and porch.

For more adult summer camps, like Space Camp, Cooking Camp or Band Camp, visit!

Christie Brinkley and Her Posh Brood Sail Through Italy

If dealing with the heat so far this summer hasn’t been hard enough, now our jealousy is in overdrive watching Christie Brinkley and her kids Instagram their way through a fabulous sailing trip in Italy. So far they’ve hit the crystal clear waters of Capri, Positano, Amalfi and the Stromboli volcano with more to come!

With the beautiful Italian sea beckoning in almost every scene, it’s clear that sailing is the perfect way to tour the Gulf of Naples! Built in 1937, their luxury schooner can be seen in many of the pics.

Not only does the whole family look beautiful, but the Italian scenery is gorgeous too!

So far on their trip there’s been quite a bit of swimming, exploring of the coastal towns and wonderful food. Caprese salad in actual Italy? Sign us up!

This place is to DIVE for! #take2 lol! @brinkleybeauty

A photo posted by Christie Brinkley (@christiebrinkley) on

We can only wish we were there, and just have to believe our invite was lost in the mail. Maybe next year!

Pro Packing Cubes: The Luggage Space Saver!

Want 10% off your own set of Pro Packing Cubes? Check out the exclusive Poshbrood coupon code below!

Pro Packing Cubes

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out Pro Packing Cubes. I was hesitant at first, because I wasn’t sure how much of a difference they would make in my packing. How could these cubes actually save space? After packing for a weekend trip with the family, I was pleasantly surprised!

Pro Packing Cubes

When the package arrived from Pro Packing Cubes, it was flat, and the five packing cubes were zipped inside each other. Because of that the individual packing cubes looked small, and I didn’t think I would be able to fit much into each one. I was completely wrong!

Pro Packing Cubes

Each packing cube holds far more than you think it will, and the mesh top lets you find what you’re looking for without opening each one. I really liked the smallest packing cube—it was perfect for toiletries and medicines, or better yet, storing chargers and cords in one place in your carry-on!

Pro Packing Cubes

The packing cubes are lightweight, but durable—and I loved that they have handles so you could carry them outside your luggage, if you wanted. Another great idea is using these to pack items that need to be pulled out for airport security.

Pro Packing Cubes

Not only was my luggage more organized overall, with each travelers’ clothes in their own packing cube, but I could fit far more into the suitcase than when I didn’t use the cubes. Since they come in different colors, I’d consider buying a set for each family member in their own color!

Pro Packing Cubes is definitely a product I recommend purchasing before your next trip! Use coupon code POSHME10 for discounts on the 4, 5 or 6 piece sets!

Have you tried packing cubes? What was your experience?

It’s Time for Family Fun at the Naples Grande Beach Resort!

Naples Grande Resort

If you’re headed to southwest Florida this summer check out the Naples Grande Beach Resort! Naples is the gateway to the Florida Everglades—one of America’s largest and most pristine wilderness areas. The resort offers expertly guided tours along with several other package perks, so you and your family can experience the indigenous natural beauty of the region. The family-fun Everglades National Park Package features:
• a 3.5 hour guided tour excursion into the Everglades;
• a deluxe “pack n’ go” Floridian-inspired lunch prepared by the Naples Grande culinary team;
• a copy of the brand new A (mostly) Kids’ Guide to Naples, Marco Island & The Everglades by local author Karen Bartlett; and
• superior overnight accommodations!

Back at the resort, beat the heat by taking advantage of the aquatic adventures and poolside play! Between the 100-foot twisting waterslide at the mangrove pool, paddleboarding, kayaking or taking a short open air tram ride through a 200-acre protected Mangrove Estuary to three miles of powdery white sand beach—there’s so much to do you won’t know where to start!

Weekdays throughout the summer, Naples Grande has transformed one of its plush poolside cabanas into a pop-up Summer Reading Nook designed to keep kids in a summer state of mind even when tasked to summer reading responsibilities. Naples Grande has also helped to lighten guests’ luggage load by outfitting the cabana with a curated selection of Scholastic titles for grades 4-9. Of course, BYOB (Bring Your Own Book!) is also welcome while kicking back in the nook with some artisanal flavored water and loads of other perks.

On Saturday evenings, head over to Dive-In Movie Night at the Mangrove Pool. Anchor your crew in a float in front of a 13-foot screen and enjoy family flick favorites like Big Hero 6, Penguins of Madagascar, The Lego Movie and Despicable Me. Order eats from the Gulf Coast Oasis surf-shack themed pool bar and some (parents only!) libations like Oasis Punch, Upside Down Margarita or the Sangria Fresca.

Youngsters have the chance to showcase their culinary creativity with several hands-on workshops at Naples Grande. Mixology is no longer reserved for martinis with the launch of the hotel’s newly launched Lemonade Lab where kids can concoct their very own signature lemonade creation using a variety of fresh seasonal fruits. After hand-picking their ingredients, they muddle the mix, combine with ice and pour into their very own chilled Naples Grande shaker. They can also showcase their inner chef with the hotel’s Little Chefs Pizza Class, where they’ll learn from the resort’s chefs how to work the dough, dress the pizza with their choice of toppings and then help get their concoction into the oven. Pizzas are served to families in the Aura Restaurant at the end of the class. Each Little Chef gets to keep their special embroidered apron and chef hat!

Naples Grande is a family mecca where you’ll also find:
• 15 Har-Tru clay tennis courts;
Naples Grande Golf Club, a highly acclaimed, Rees Jones-designed, 18-hole, 6,955-yard, par 72 course;
Naples Grande Spa, an indoor-outdoor spa village where teens can experience their first facial while pre-teens enjoy the Berry Sweet Manicure & Pedicure offering;
• A protected mangrove estuary with a long boardwalk composed of recycled milk jugs that provides an eco-friendly path where families can get in touch with nature;
• Two new restaurants:  The Catch of the Pelican, which celebrates the vibrant flavors of the Gulf Coast with fresh, local seafood and vegetables from local organic farms & Rhode’s End, a beach bar and grill serving lunch and dinner Mediterranean style; and
• Brand new accommodations in tower guestrooms and suites with balconies offering stunning views of the Gulf. The Garden Villa Suites offers a split floor plan for families looking for extra space!

Jurassic World, Here We Come!

Komodo National Park

Has Jurassic World fever taken over your house yet? Is your brood asking every other minute just when it is that you’ll be leaving for Isla Nublar? While we can’t actually jet off to Jurassic World, we can head to Komodo National Park in Indonesia and experience the next best thing!

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is a global conservation priority area in the Wallacea Region of Indonesia, between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. The park is designed to protect the endangered Komodo Dragon population and has been designated as A Man and Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site and as a Marine Protected Area.

Komodo National Park

Of course, the Komodo dragon is, sadly, neither a dinosaur nor a dragon, but they are the world’s largest and oldest living lizards. Adult dragons can grow to be almost 10 feet long and reach speeds of 11 miles an hour when hunting. Another neat fact? Their septic saliva kills their prey by causing blood poisoning.

Komodo National Park

The islands that make up the area where the park is located are volcanic in nature and, since they are at the intersection of two continental plates, the flora and fauna is a fascinating mix of Australian and Asian. The 5,700 Komodo Dragons that live on the island are found nowhere else on earth. An additional 58 other types of animals and 128 bird species are also found in the park.

So get ready to off to Indonesia, and experience your very own Jurassic World!

Family Stay-cation and Water Fun in Costa Teguise

Costa Teguise

For uncomplicated family vacation fun, it’s hard to beat the Canary Islands, and the resort of Costa Teguise on Lanzarote is a classic example. When you book a trip to this sun-kissed coastal spot on the east of the island, you’ll find plenty to keep the fam active and entertained. There are loads of water-related activities, from windsurfing to swimming with sharks, to try out!

Costa Teguise

Lanzarote Aquarium

No trip to Costa Teguise is complete until you’ve experienced the delights of Lanzarote Aquarium. The largest attraction of its kind in the Canary Islands, it’s home to hundreds of marine species, from turtles to hermit crabs and clown fishes. There is also a selection of sharks to see, and if you’re feeling brave, you can even take a dip with these creatures of the deep. The aquarium offers advanced diving courses and, the second time around, you’ll get to swim in the central tank alongside the sharks!

Costa Teguise

With its mild climate and warm waters, Lanzarote has long been a popular destination for windsurfers, and the seas off Costa Teguise offer superb conditions for this sport. The best season to try the activity out is summer, when the trade winds pick up, and the beach of Playa de las Cucharas has all the facilities you’ll need. As well as offering the perfect conditions for pros, the sheltered bay is ideal for beginners. You can hire all your equipment at the windsurfing center on the beach, including specialist gear for kids.

Costa Teguise

Just want to chill out, sunbathe or take a dip in the sea? Head to the sandy spots that border the resort. As well as Playa de las Cucharas, you’ll find Playa de los Charcos, Playa del Jablillo and Playa Bastián. Most visitors agree that Cucharas is the best beach. Boasting more than half a mile of golden sand and a gentle slope into the sea, you’ll be splashing around happily all day. Plenty of amenities are available and, just a short walk away, you’ll find shops and restaurants for recharging and rejuvenating after an active day!
