3 Fun Kids’ Travel Apps We Love!
Whether you’re traveling in the country or out, we love these three apps for kids who love to explore!
Lonely Planet Amazing World Atlas
The Lonely Planet Amazing World Atlas app is chock full of fun facts for wherever on Earth you’re headed! The app is intended for ages 9-11, but is actually pretty fun for anyone who enjoys learning. Explore continents, countries and cities around the world while learning geography and absorbing knowledge on historic sites, wildlife, food and culture. There are five mini-games and 30 levels, all of which are so amusing, your kids won’t even notice they’re learning! Click here for iPhone or Android.
Roadtrips can get pretty boring, but we promise everyone will stay entertained with Roadside America! The app catalogs the weird and wacky sites that can only be found in America (and Canada!). From the smallest and largest attractions to Mystery Spots and quirky cafes, Roadside America lets you plan your trip, provides location details and often very funny tips from the travelers who’ve passed through before you. While not exactly educational, kids will certainly get a taste of the whimsical side of America (and Canada!) Unfortunately, this one is iPhone only, but hopefully will come to Android in the future. Click here for iPhone.
Star Walk lets you see the stars as they are. With the amount of light pollution most of us experience, it’s hard to remember that the stars are always out there. Star Walk shows you the stars in their positions above you, maps out the constellations and gives you background and history on what you see. You can even view different times of the day or year so you can see what the sky looked like on any date in the past or future. Great for experiencing astronomy at home or when traveling! Click here for iPhone or Android.
